Anna and Andy - Whimsical Multicolored Ethereal July Wedding

I first saw Anna in 2011 when she was on the soccer field with my sister, Gabbi, at Illinois State University 7 years ago. As a freshman, Gabbi would always have a big smile when she talked about her blooming friendship with a sophomore on her team, Anna. When I finally met Anna in person, I knew she would be a special friend to my sister for the long haul. Soon after I met her, I noticed her greeting her new boyfriend, Andy, with a big hug and her well-known beaming smile after her mom commented on the status their new relationship to me and others nearby after a game. I can still remember that moment because they both looked so happy to see each other :)

Fast forward to their engagement session Fall 2016, I knew Anna and Andy's wedding was going to be one to remember as they told me about their plan to get married on Anna's family's land, but I didn't truly understand the extent of how incredibly special this wedding day really was going to be until I lived it. Since they got engaged, Anna's family started an incredible project to prepare a dreamy, long, winding path of wildflowers for their wedding day on July 21, 2018. The path that you see in many of these photos was about 2 years in the making. The amount of dedication needed to execute this daunting task blows my mind and shows just how much love surrounds this beautiful couple.

So many of the stories that I heard and things that I witnessed on their wedding day touched my heart, including:

  • Andy chose to include Anna's favorite color on the inside of his ring, which brought on the happy tears when Anna found this out.
  • Many of the flowers for the floral arrangements, bouquets, and boutonnieres were freshly picked from her family's garden.
  • Anna's brother, Aaron, played saxophone and was the lead vocalist for the reception with his band The All American Funk Parade. Aaron also built long, wooden tables for their reception dinner.
  • Kimi, Aaron's wife and Anna's sister-in-law, contributed gorgeous vintage rentals with her business, Emerald Crane Event Rentals.

Let me tell you, the talent of the people that were involved and came to this wedding was incredible, from college athletes to musicians and from carpenters to gardeners.

I looked at the forecast a day before their wedding and it predicted rain which isn't ideal, but I was optimistic to see "light rain" scattered throughout the day instead of thunderstorms all day. We all had to be flexible, but thankfully the weather cooperated enough for their entire ceremony to be held outdoors in the open air without a drop. It did start coming down immediately after, so the timing couldn't have been any more perfect that day. If you look close, you might see some rain drops in some of the wedding party portraits.

I could keep talking about their wedding, but I know you are really here for the pictures, so how I about I just show you! Congratulations again Anna and Andy!
