Amy and Joey - East Troy and Whitewater Wisconsin September Wedding

bride and groom on their wedding day at Booth Lake in East Troy Wisconsin

I met Amy while she was standing up as a bridesmaid at her sisters wedding, which I was photographing. It feels like things have come full circle being her wedding photographer four years later! I was very excited when she reached out to me earlier this year for her wedding in late September. I had the pleasure of meeting her then fiancé, Joey, on video chat not too long after she sent that first email to me. I could tell even through the computer screen that these two were such sweet people. When we got together for the first time in person for their engagement session during the summer, I had such a great time talking to them about their honeymoon plans to Hawaii and our love for Colectivo and Trader Joes :) They truly are down-to-earth and kind people.

Their big day came around pretty quick! There were so many special moments throughout their day including the big ones that come to mind:

  • They read heartfelt letters and opened thoughtful gifts from each other

  • They held hands around a corner without seeing one another for a prayer before the ceremony

  • Joey cried such happy tears as he watched his beautiful bride walk down the aisle

  • Amy and Joey had a beautiful foot washing ceremony during their service

  • They chose one of my favorite worship songs, O Praise the Name by Hillsong, so sing along with their family and friends

  • We held portraits at a Booth Lake where Joey and his family have fond memories of spending time at together

  • Amy and Joey made an awesome swing dance entrance into their reception

  • They had donuts from Greenbush Bakery at their reception (which was my favorite donut shop while I was a student at UW Madison)

  • Amy’s two sisters sang an adorable song together that they wrote for her to the tune of Cups from Pitch Perfect

  • A special song was played in celebration of Joey’s grandma turning 96 (I hope I’m right about that!)

  • Amy’s brother put on an adorable photo montage video of Amy and Joey’s lives growing up and together

Amy and Joey’s love for each other and for God was very apparent throughout their wedding day. I am so so happy for them and am excited that they get to spend their first days as newlyweds in beautiful Hawaii. I hope you enjoy these images from their special day :)
